For bookkeepers, freelancers and small-business owners
Bank statements in. Spreadsheets that tie out.
Drop a PDF statement — even a scanned one. TieOut pulls every transaction and checks the math against the opening and closing balance before you export to Excel, CSV or QuickBooks.
Every converter gives you rows. TieOut gives you proof.
Bookkeepers don't trust converted statements, for good reason: one misread digit on a scanned page and the books are off. So everyone ends up re-adding the columns by hand.
TieOut does that re-adding for you, row by row. When a printed running balance disagrees with the math, that row is circled — you fix one cell, not the whole month.
Three clicks, start to file.
- 1
Drop the PDF
Digital or scanned, up to 20 pages. No templates, no picking your bank.
- 2
Watch it check itself
Rows appear as they're read. Opening + credits − debits has to equal the closing balance, or the rows that break it are marked.
- 3
Export
CSV, Excel or a QuickBooks-ready file. Account numbers keep their zeros; dates stay dates.
Excel-safe, by default.
Open a normal CSV in Excel and account 004417 becomes 4417, check numbers turn into scientific notation, and 3/4 becomes a date. TieOut's Excel export stores every field with its real type, so nothing changes when you open it.
Priced per statement, not per page.
A 12-page statement counts as one. Cancel anytime.
Questions
How do I convert a PDF bank statement to Excel?
Upload the PDF to TieOut. It reads every transaction, checks that opening balance + credits − debits equals the closing balance, and lets you download an .xlsx file. Dates are stored as real dates and check numbers as text, so Excel doesn't reformat them.
What happens to my statement after I upload it?
The PDF is read once and deleted as soon as extraction finishes. Only the transaction rows are kept, so you can review and export them — and you can delete those with one click.
Does it work on scanned or photographed statements?
Yes. Scans are where other converters quietly misread digits, which is exactly what the balance check catches. If a row doesn't add up, it's marked for you to fix before export.
Which banks are supported?
Any US bank or credit-card statement that prints transactions with dates and amounts — Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, credit unions, Amex. There's nothing to configure per bank.
What if it doesn't tie out?
You'll see the exact difference and which rows break the running balance. Click any cell to correct it; the check recomputes instantly.
Can I import the result into QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Pro includes a QuickBooks-ready CSV with the three columns QuickBooks Online's bank upload expects: Date, Description and Amount.
How much does TieOut cost?
Free covers 3 statements a month with CSV export. Pro is $12 a month for 150 statements plus Excel and QuickBooks exports. A statement counts once, however many pages it has. Cancel anytime.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Pro is month to month and you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
